During low tide in Santa Cruz many common Ochre Sea Stars (Pisaster ochraceus) are revealed clinging to rocks and in tidepools. Despite their name they come in a variety of colors ranging from purple to red and orange. The pebbled texture on this etching was rendered in a ferric chloride solution on a copper plate. Drypoint was used to create the dense background.
