This etching was inspired
by a visit to 'Island Bay' on Wellington's south coast.
The Bay got it's name from the island 'Tapu te Ranga',
that sits across the bay's mouth and shelters the
area from Cook Strait, that wild stretch of water
that seperates New Zealand's North Island from it's
South Island. Island Bay is renowned for it's sparkling
blue sea and it's abundance of marine life, such as
sea horses, that lurk in the many craggy but accessable
rock pools that dot the foreshore. Old dinghys and
row boats also recline everywhere, as the area is
extremely popular with fishermen. |
